Conflict in the disputed Palestinian/Israeli territory

A preface

I personally disavow all violence that has been done against civilians as 2 Helaman clearly shows us that unarmed opponents and civilians have God's mercy. The conflict is long, complex and not something that should be discussed lightly. I write this to attempt to put construct the the thoughts I have had on this issue.

What can be done?

It is my personal opinion that as outsiders which must stand for liberty of all people but also must not further injustices, the only position that someone can take is to provide aid to the wounded and displaced, call for an end of the conflict, and a peaceful resolution. What can be a peaceful resolution, however? This is precisely what troubles me. I do not know.

Peace as a possibility

While many historians and even some present-day officials and political groups in Israel have suggested a two state solution, I am unsure if such a thing would be possible. I would like it to be but I have no idea what that means. Gaza was claimed to be such but as I look into it, a place which is collectively punished for the actions of a group that is disavowed by many of its peers seems ludicrous. The last election was 17 years ago and Israel controls what food, jobs, and even repairs can be done on infrastructure. This feels less like a state and more like a trap for inequity.

Closing thoughts

Writing this out is meaningless but all the same I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ guides those involved to find peace and lay down their weapons of war and their hatred and the traditions of their fathers
